Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinders
Coffee connoisseur the world over will tell you that the best coffee grinder is a conical burr grinder. Most models of this type are expensive usually within the price range of $200 to $400 a piece. If you can’t afford this price, you would probably settle for the cheaper blade grinder. Do you have to? Isn’t there a choice?
The Jura-Capresso 565 Infinity Conical burr grinder is a compact 7-2/3 by 5-2/5 by 10-4/5-inch that has a heavy-duty die cast housing, a built-in timer, a bean container that could hold up to 8 ounces and a ground container with a capacity if 4 ounces. At $99, this conical grinder is a real find.
The 16 levels of grind setting produce even and consistent grind for better tasting coffee. If setting 16 is coarse and setting 1 is fine, you have to experiment what number setting you want best for your coffee maker. Most users find that setting numbers 4 and 5 are perfect for their espresso machines. If you wish to stop the grinding midway, just twist the top and don’t set the timer to zero as it won’t do. There’s a bit of static too but overall, it is not so bothersome as the conical burr eliminated a larger percentage of the static therefore producing lesser dust. The slower gear movement produces consistent and uniform grounds.
If you have been using blade grinders before, you might be surprised by the seemingly perfect taste of burr ground coffee beans. Gone is the bitter and sometimes burnt aftertaste. Majority of satisfied consumers attest to a significant improvement of their coffee. There are users who testify that their espressos flow evenly and consistently like syrup too. No hitch of any kind. Even the espresso cake left in the filter is packed evenly.
The machine is quieter than most models and brands of burr grinders. You can actually have a conversation going while waiting for your ground. The grinding process is fast too for you can have fine ground in less than 30 seconds.
There are two flaws that consumers see in this model though. The first one is that the plastic coffee ground container was not designed to have a lock mechanism to prevent the container from loosening from its initial snug fit. The second flaw is that the container is not quite as easy to clean for some coffee grounds are left in the chamber. Cleaning the chamber with the little brush that comes with the package is a little messy.
Overall, Capresso Infinity conical burr grinder is one of the best in its price range with an average rating of 4 over 5 stars.
